About Me!

I’m Abhiroop aka the-neural-networker! I am a graduate student studying Computer Science at Indiana University Bloomington. Over the past three years as a Machine Learning Engineer/Researcher, I've been deeply involved in developing and deploying advanced computer vision models.

I am research assistant in the Computer Vision Lab here at IU, where I am researching denoising diffusion models and how they can be used for 3D reconstruction and depth map super resolution. I am also a member of the IU autonomous racing team working on the perception system of autonomous racing cars that can reach 170 mph. More recently, I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at AiKYNETIX, focusing on converting PyTorch-based pose estimation models into CoreML formats. Prior to my graduate studies, I worked as a Computer Vision Engineer at Segmind, where I played a role in developing VoltaML, a library aimed at enhancing the speed of ML model inference. My first foray into Machine Learning Engineering was at Onward Assist, where I built computer vision models to help aid pathologists and radiologists in India in early cancer diagnosis.

Outside of work, I like to read books on sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery. I also love playing Magic the gathering. I usually play online, but I am getting more into paper MTG at my LGS. I also play video games with RPGs and FPS being my favourite.

With this blog, I hope to contribute to the AI community, something I have been wanting to do for a long time, but never got around to it. Hopefully it works out!
